Government Collaboration

CIMIT is an established consortium and the recognized model for effective innovation in translational research. The evidence from the 10 year experience in Boston validates that CIMIT is making a difference in healthcare, and that this difference would not have occurred with usual systems and funding sources. CIMIT seeks to test the transferability of this model beyond the greater Boston area. CIMIT believes a thoughtful affiliation with like-minded consortiums outside Boston will help CIMIT achieve its mission.
To better understand the concept of transferability, CIMIT now is engaging targeted centers/consortiums as International Affiliates. The underlying hypothesis is that the whole will be greater then the sum of the parts. Since 2006, CIMIT has been exploring the appropriate structure and site for replicating the model internationally. CIMIT and UK Manchester have a Memorandum of Understanding whereby UK Manchester became the first CIMIT International Affiliate — MIMIT.
CIMIT will continue to explore other potential relationships with other consortia that share a similar mission and philosophy to improve patient care through innovation and technology.
