6.03.2008 Online Medical Communities: The Role of Information Arbitrage SPEAKER:
|
How can an online community for physicians support itself and provide a trusted way for physicians to act as resources to each other across geographic boundaries? What relationship with physicians is required to build critical mass in such a community? How is such use of the internet being used at a grass-roots level to empower the collect voice of physicians? These questions will be addressed in this presentation by Sermo (www.sermo.com). Launched in September 2006, Sermo is already the largest online physician community in the US, with 60,000 physician members. On Sermo, physicians exchange knowledge with each other and gain potentially life-saving insights directly from colleagues. Sermo harnesses the power of collective wisdom and enables physicians to discuss new clinical findings, report unusual events, and work together to improve patient care. Through its unique business model, Sermo is free to physicians and has no advertising or promotion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sermo
