VoluSense Joins CIMIT’s Industry Liaison Program
VoluSense, a company based in Oslo, Norway, has joined CIMIT’s Industry Liaison Program (ILP) as part of a broader grouping of enterprises known as Innovation Norway.
VoluSense focuses on the medical need and setting a new standard in tidal breathing assessment in neonates, infants and children.
One of the roles of its products is to diagnose and follow upon on patients with acute obstructive lung disease and asthma and in sleep apnea. By the monitoring of tidal volume sleep to diagnose central versus obstructive apnea, VoluSense is the only available method for measuring respiratory function without the use of a mask or mouthpiece.
VoluSense was founded in 1999 by Morten Eriksen, MD, PhD and Kjell Oygarden, M.Sc, both who have many years of experience in the medical device and pharmaceutical development and industry.
The company is currently developing a next generation product, a miniaturized bedside unit, which will be available in the U.S. and Europe sometime in 2009.
CIMIT’s ILP provides an organized portal to CIMIT for member companies. Companies get connected to the CIMIT network, form collaborations, support ongoing research and gain insight into the future of care through basic membership or more targeted customized services. CIMIT's ILP works to ensure successful collaboration, accelerate the technology development process, and more quickly impact patient care.
